Below you will find photos and stories from the Catalina Island Fire. DCS was active for 12 days. This was the longest activation most of our members can remember.

The City of Avalon was lucky.  As the fire overtook one home it was stopped within 200 yards of potentially taking the whole town.

On Saturday afternoon while members were debriefing at EOB with Sgt. Jeff Jablonsky and Sgt. Paul Hanley, DCS was requested to return to Catalina as communications were expected to completely fail due to fire damage as Avalon, the Interior and Isthmus areas of Catalina had no direct communication.  Three hours later, Rick Norwood, Andy Veek, Robert Tucker and Jason were back on the Island; Dwayne Miles joined them on Monday after having worked several shifts at EOB.
